Fear Factory Return! Sonisphere, Bloodstock and a new album on the way!

Fear Factory’s Burton C Bell and Dino Cazares have joined forces again. Contrary to recent internet rumours, this is no mere collaboration, but an actual regrouping of the LA cyber metallers. A new line-up of the band are working on new material; the pair’s first collaboration since 2001’s Digimortal. They will hit the UK this summer for some major festivals. The band originally split up in 2002 due to personal differences between the pair, but reformed with bassist Christian Olde Wolbers on guitar. The new band will feature Burton and Dino alongside bassist Byron Stroud ( Who replaced Christian on bass) and drummer Gene Hoglan ( SYL/Death). Speaking exclusively to Hammer, the pair reveal how the reunion happened.
“We were friends before we were in a band together but after a while we forgot what it was all about”, says Burton.
“The first time we saw each other in a long time was at the Ministry show in LA last year, and we just started talking again. Good friendships will always return.”
“Burt lives in Pennsylvania and I live in California,” adds Dino. “So we never really had a chance to see each other. When we did it was like, “What’s up, buddy? How’re you doing?’ It was like we’d never stopped being friends. We had to rekindle the friendship first and then move forward from there.”
Diehard fans may be wondering where Christian or drummer Raymond Herrera are. Although reluctant to go into details, Burton is adamant that the decision to reconvene with a new line-up was made for artistic reasons.
“I wouldn’t say this is a reformation,” he says.
“It’s more of a reorganisation. After talking to Dino again it just felt good and right to do it this way.”
“Fear Factory was always a band that evolved,” continues Dino. “We’ve got my signature guitar sound and Burton’s signature vocals. But we’ve got a different drummer so there’s gonna be some different ideas. We’re not gonna put out a record that’s half-assed. It’s going to be 100 percent Fear Factory.”
UK was the first place to accept Fear Factory.
